Dina Shahar MA RCA

While doing my Master Degree in Industrial Design at the Royal College of Art I developed the “Looking Well.” The project is a contemporary interpretation of the traditional village-well as a meeting point. It is a fresh urban experience that constitutes a new piazza. The “Looking Well” marked my professional direction, disclosing my fascination with the urban public environment. Outdoor public areas are an extension of our homes: open, free, and accessible to all. Their qualities – like the ingredients of which they are made – have a huge impact on the making of our daily lives. Following my graduation from the RCA, I focused in my work on creating new outdoor experiences and designing urban elements, lighting and furniture. Far beyond mere functionality, I believe that the design of these elements creates a sense of place, uplifting and transforming our everyday life.
